Preventing Heart Effects

There are no known ways to prevent heart side effects of immune checkpoint inhibitors. Early recognition is key.

Treatment may include a course of steroids or other agents to reduce inflammation.

Be sure to notify your health care team if you develop new symptoms of chest pain, shortness of breath, heart palpitations or swelling in your legs.
