CardioSmart and SUBWAY Promote Healthy Eating Options
June 2, 2011-- Look for the CardioSmart logo in SUBWAY restaurants this summer. As part of the American College of Cardiology's partnership with SUBWAY on the CardioSmart National Care Initiative, the CardioSmart logo will appear in 24,000 SUBWAY restaurants nationwide beginning in June in an effort to increase education about healthy eating options. Also participating in this promotional effort are: The Department of Health and Human Services, the National Institutes of Health and National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute’s “We Can! Ways to Enhance Children’s Activity and Nutrition” program, Little League Baseball and Softball, and the American Heart Association’s “Jump Rope for Heart” program.
This is the first time the CardioSmart logo will appear to a nationwide audience, and the ACC is excited by the opportunity to further grow the program and reach new audiences with educational messages about heart healthy living. It is important to note that the ACC’s presence is not an endorsement of the Fresh Fit menu — a point that is made clear via disclaimers included as part of the promotional material.
