Jacob Burris is CardioSmart

CardioSmart Patient Story

Jacob Burris was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect (CHD) at 12 years old. Because of the great responsibility Burris took on since his diagnosis, the American College of Cardiology has named him its “I am CardioSmart” contest winner.

He was recognized during the CardioSmart Patient Engagement Reception, which was held in conjunction with the American College of Cardiology’s 66th Annual Scientific Session in Washington.

At his 12-year checkup, Jacob Burris was told he had high blood pressure. After more tests, he was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect, coarctation of the aorta. In this video, Jacob talks about the challenges of living well as a CHD survivor.
