Mended Little Hearts, a CardioSmart partner since 2010, works nationally and within communities to support children with congenital heart defects and their families. Congenital heart defects are the most common birth defect in the U.S., occurring in nearly 1 percent of births, but thanks to improvements in survival, the number of adults living with congenital heart defects is increasing to about 85 percent.
